Dune Safeβ„’: Local Censor

To blur an ID or a photo of minors, you should NOT upload the file to a server. Our tool works offline once loaded (WASM), meaning the 'uncensored' version never leaves your RAM, guaranteeing absolute privacy.
πŸ’‘

Essential for legal documents and family photos.

🌫️

Gaussian Blur vs Box Blur

We use a Gaussian Blur algorithm that mathematically averages the colors of neighboring pixels following a bell curve. This creates a smooth and natural effect, superior to rough 'pixelation' (mosaic) which is often reversible by AI.
πŸ’‘

More aesthetic and safer than pixelation.

🎨

Bokeh Aesthetic

In photography, 'Bokeh' is the quality of the out-of-focus blur. Our tool simulates this optical effect digitally, allowing you to direct the viewer's gaze towards what matters (the sharp subject) by eliminating background distractions.
πŸ’‘

Simulates f/1.8 aperture lenses digitally.

Blurring FAQ

Quick answers about the tool

Is the blur reversible?
No. Once you download the processed image, the original pixels have been mathematically blended and the detail information is permanently destroyed. It is a secure method of censorship.
How do I blur only a person's face?
Use the 'Selective' mode (the dotted box icon). Draw a rectangle over the face you want to hide and adjust the intensity until it is unrecognizable.
Is pixelation or blurring better for privacy?
Strong blur (Gaussian Blur) is mathematically harder for forensic AIs to reverse than simple pixelation. We recommend high-intensity Gaussian blur for sensitive data.
Can I blur the background and keep the foreground sharp?
Currently, you can do this manually by selecting the background areas. We are working on automatic subject detection (AI) for future versions that will do this in a single click.
Does it work with text screenshots?
Yes, it is ideal for hiding passwords, emails, or account numbers in screenshots before sharing them via WhatsApp or Slack.
Do your tools add a watermark?
Never. We believe privacy and utility should be clean. Your blurred image will be identical to the original, only with the parts you choose hidden.
What formats does it support?
We support JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF (first frame only). The alpha channel (transparency) of PNGs is respected, becoming semi-transparent if blurred.
Do you have access to the original uncensored photo?
Absolutely NOT. The original file lives in your browser's RAM and is destroyed when you close the tab. It never reaches our servers.
